Bigger than a normal one, but what if its even more gold? Lol
Hahahaha
9:15 did you catch that its not a screen error because it literaly moved the morgan dollar
Great video. Now I’ve got to go and test all my silver coins!
Definitely will give you peace of mind!
There’s fakes that will pass all those tests. There’s fakes that have passed NGC and PCGS and have been put into a slab. But anyway, another test that costs next to nothing is the ice test. Place ice on the silver coin. If it melts rapidly, it’s silver. If you want to spend some money, you can get a Sigma Metalyzer – Precious Metals Verifier. These are good to see if the metal composition of the coin is correct. There’s even some tests that are better, but you’re going to spend many thousands on the equipment, which isn’t practical for most people.
Most fakes you can tell by just looking at the coin, if you study the type of coin you’re collecting. All these tests are good, they will weed out most fakes. Just be aware, there’s fakes that are so good, even experts that have been doing this all their lives have been fooled.

I love your videos and you have a large enough following now to afford some better audio setup, either make a little studio where you record or hang a lot of fabrics to dampen the echos that’s very annoying in this room. Please keep up the good work.
Hey Carl, thanks for the frank recommendations and the words of encouragement. I agree with you! If you watch my latest videos you’ll see that I got a new microphone that helps a lot. It’s not perfect, but I’m improving 🙂
There are digital calipers made out of carbon fiber that’s non marring, they cost the same so I wouldn’t get anything else.
That’s a really good point!
i tested my 2020 maple 1 oz diameter 38 but its reading 37.80 and thick of 2.99 stndrd is 3.12 so is it ok? it pass the mgnet and wt test
Very informative video! Only thing is, at the end when you’re discussing the 1888-CC Morgan, you speak about it as if that date/mintmark actually exists. No Carson City Morgans were minted that year. So we know it’s a fake–even without the tests! 🙂
My test is the vam test
most fakes have overdone patina, thats why i always skip coins with suspicious looking patina
Very true
If you are going to be a serious stacker you seriously need the Sigma metalytics. You will sleep better at night.
Maybe someday. I’d love for them to sponsor me!
What about the sygma tester
Can’t understand what you’re saying with all the reverberation. You need acoustic panels. Gave up 1 minute into the video.
Awesome video, thanks!!
Thanks!
I have just purchased a “silver 1906 rupee” i searched online is silver magnetic and it passed that test but I found a fake one made of copper and also that isn’t magnetic so now I’m lost
What if it’s silver plated lead or some other crap metal
Just got 10 2020 year Liberty Eagle 1.oz 999.fine sliver it’s Fake the flip was not right and weight was off by 5 grams. Lesson learned hard way . Box was ship from China to Jamaica New York to me lesson learned
I read somewhere that if you place an icecube on a real silver coin, it melts faster than on a fake coin, not sure how true is that
