Stunning Fine Furniture from 2x4s! This even blew my mind!

Making a modern decorative cabinet using cheap 2x4s from the home center. Brought to us by Squarespace. For 10% off your first purchase, go to: http://squarespace.com/makesomething I wanted to try something different and challenge myself and see if I could use cheap 2x4s from the home center and make a stunning piece of fine furniture. Even though I was pretty picky when selecting these 2x4s they still had their flaws.

None were perfectly straight or flat, and even the best ones still had ugly knots to work around. I went into this woodworking project confident that this cabinet would come out pretty good but I had no idea it would come out as good as it did. I was blown away by the results and nobody in a million years would guess this cabinet was made from the cheapest wood you can get. ★ Tools and supplies used in this video (Affiliate links) ★ Miter Saw: https://amzn.to/2FDslZw Jointer: https://amzn.to/2IJyRRh Planer: https://amzn.to/2swddVQ Drum Sander: https://amzn.to/2s9XoUq Table Saw: http://amzn.to/2E89suw Yellow Push Block: https://amzn.to/347PTUB Large Bandsaw: https://amzn.to/3qll06v Disc Sander: https://amzn.to/3E2lMvv Random Orbit Sander: http://amzn.to/2aXutIU Router: https://amzn.to/3zWG3R1 Router Lift: https://amzn.to/3zXDU7p Little Bandsaw: https://amzn.to/2WwuhgH Spindle Sander: https://amzn.to/3mBGHhu Yellow Paddles: https://amzn.to/3su2mfj Drill Press: https://amzn.to/3IRUMll Festool Domino: https://amzn.to/3vExcSJ Aluminum Bar Clamps: https://amzn.to/3I3GmwL Stepcraft CNC: https://bit.ly/3pX03xU Rayjet R400 Laser Cutter: https://bit.ly/3uHoP9e Vacuum Bag: https://bit.ly/3AxuUbK Vacuum: https://bit.ly/3wcVFiX Total Boat Epoxy: http://bit.ly/3nHuCeo Dye: https://amzn.to/3U0uqCK Finish: https://amzn.to/3zoVVfT Table Top Fasteners: https://amzn.to/3ZxIJzR ★ WATCH MORE ★ DIY Sliding Crosscut Table: https://youtu.be/Svji38dVOcg Table with Only Two Tools: https://youtu.be/UV3MjdVKYHM 2×4 Bench: https://youtu.be/lKpqT0IxqfQ #woodworking

  1. I have found at least at the home depot i shop at that there 2x4s are a waste of money. worst most beaten up, knotty, twisted pieces of garbage known to mankind. There 2x6s however are much nicer, I even found a couple of boards that were perfectly flat with not a single knot along the entire length. I recommend using 2x6s instead of 2x4s for your furniture 😉

  2. I built an 18th century style Queen Anne lowboy (with cabriole legs and hand-dovetailed drawers) using pine and poplar from the home center. I wasn’t sure I could build it so I didn’t want to waste expensive hardwood. Once I finished it I started the tiger maple one.
