WARNING – Disturbing New Trend in Silver Coins

In this video I talk about a disturbing new trend is silver coins. I have been silver stacking since 2018 and I have noticed that there has been a large increase in new semi-numismatic silver coins. These silver coins carry a high premium and are not the best thing to buy for silver investing or for silver stacking. Many of the online bullion dealers and coin shops are now pushing these coins and trying to sell more and more of them. I fear that new silver stackers will opt to purchase these silver coins instead of the low premium types of silver that are better for silver investing. Silver rounds, silver bars, and low premium silver coins are a much better option and will give you more silver in your stack at the end of the day. I feel as though silver spot price is relatively low and now is great time to be increasing your silver stack as much as you can. 1. When you mention the lowest premium coins that are non collectibles or numismatic types. Would a local non famous mint that’s self minting their own coins be included as well to stack? (Provided that can confirm the silver 9999/999 content of those local minted coins. They’re low premium / spread as they’re locally minted so saves on costs.

  2. I buy collectibles, but only the ones I really love and preferably with low mintage, but I always buy two Britannias along with them. Should I have to, I’d have no problem cashing in Britannias. If I was ever forced to cash in collectibles, it would cause mental pain.

  3. I’m with you on the specialty rounds and ‘coins’, but mostly because I just _don’t like_ all the various consoomer crap that gets put out. I look at the capeshit and star wars stuff and just have an almost automatic _revulsion_ to it. Instead, I’m excited to see what my LCS has for ‘generic’ rounds each week. It could be buffalos, monument metals, medjugorje, SD bullion, Sunshine, Prospectors, vintage, or even a few select sovereign coin types.

That said, I did end up buying one smei-numismatic, but only because it appealed to me, and the price was good: a 2022 ‘Running Sonic’, mostly because I always wanted a Sonic coin, but also because the 2022 was a nicer design than 2021’s ‘Box Art Sonic’ coin (although if I can score one of those cheap too, I’ll snag it).

  4. My view – these should be used as a ‘gateway’ and a ‘bridge-the-gap’ to get kids and non-metals people into the idea of silver – give it as a one-off gift or lay it out on your coffee table as a conversation starter (along with regular bullion/ rounds) – which opens a rabbit hole of the Federal Reserve, currency vs money, debt…etc. and bring them over to the ‘Silver Side’ and real stacking. You never know – we get enough people interested and knowledgeable we might spur a resurgence of transactional silver in parallel to fiat.
