I have a ring similar to the second photo. So this is what it’s called…tension setting. Thank you for another fantastic jewelry minute. Xoxo!
You are welcome! Tension settings seem almost magicall!! xoxo
Never heard of tension setting before. I’ll have to do more research on it as it is a fascinating way to display a stone in a ring. Thank you for sharing with us Jill! Cannot wait for tomorrow’s Monday musing!
It is a beautiful setting that you don’t often see. Thank you so much! “See” you tomorrow!! xoxo
That setting is BeAuTiFuL! I also learned some jewelry “lingo”, girdle and basket. Always appreciate the pros and cons with the learning. I am going to go get my girdle out of a basket and get dressed! That was my silliness minute! Sunday Hugs Jill – xxoo!
You are so funny Michele! I remember when Mitch came home one day and asked me if I would take him girdle shopping because he didn’t want to wear another man’s girdle. My obvious question was “huh?”. I didn’t understand that a girdle is part of a football uniform. xoxo
The first time a saw a photo of one, my heart skipped a beat. They are so dramatic and lovely.
Agreed! They seem to defy logic!! xoxo
I really like this look and normally I like A more vintage look thank you once again for teaching me something new
I love it too. Good design is good design, and this look can be perfection. xoxo
I saw this type ring but I don’t know they have the name of setting. Thank You so much for sharing ❤️
You are very welcome Irene! It makes for an interesting look! xoxo
I love that setting, it’s very eye catching! Is this setting also used for earrings or necklaces? Thanks for the education!
I’ve never seen it used on earrings and necklaces because you need a full circle to create the clamp that holds the diamond. It is an amazing look! xoxo
Wow, didn’t know this. It’s a beautiful & simple, yet elegant setting.
I so agree! They are one of my favorite settings!! xoxo
I LOVE this setting! I have never heard of this, just gorgeous!! TFS Jill! XO
Thank you Yota! I agree that it is a beautiful way to set a stone!! xoxo
WOW how amazing. I’ve never heard of that. Good to know! I’d love a diamond set like that.
If it makes the stone look smaller, I’ll have to ask for a bigger stone!
Ha! The bigger the stone the better! I’m glad you discovered a new type of setting that you love!! xoxo
It’s pretty setting. I like the very modern look. Seems like it would be unstable, though, and that it would put pressure on the stone, potentially causing it to crack.
The stone does need to be a strong one. There have been some problems, especially when they first started doing them. But most have held up well. xoxo
she is very good…
Thank you! xoxo
This type of setting I’ve seen here and there and it makes me nervous lol. For some reason I feel the stone is too exposed and could crack easily or if something were to hit the ring and bend the metal it would just be easier to loose the stone. I don’t know. I appreciate prongs I guess 😂
I feel the same way! It’s kind of like flying. It just really doesn’t look like it should work. xoxo
